Meet the family behind the sunshine….

Hi friends,

We’re Johnny and Sarah, along with our three children, Anyah, Aubrey, and Axel and we are so grateful you’re here.

What began years ago as Fish Sunflowers grew into something far bigger than we ever imagined. From 2020–2022, we planted sunflower fields across Minnesota with one purpose in mind: to create spaces where people could come to breathe, reflect, heal, connect, and experience beauty in the middle of life’s hardest and most meaningful moments.

Each field carried deep meaning, honoring stories of grief, cancer, Alzheimer’s, miscarriage, veterans, loss, hope, and healing. What started as planting flowers quickly became creating spaces for people to heal, reflect, and connect.

And somewhere along the way, those fields changed us too.

But after several intense years of pouring everything we had into the mission emotionally, physically, and financially, we realized we needed to step away for a season. We knew that if this vision was ever meant to continue, it would need stronger roots, a permanent home where it could grow sustainably and intentionally.

So we surrendered it.

And we waited.

Over the past few years, God has used that waiting season to reshape our hearts, our priorities, and our vision for the future. One verse continually stayed on our hearts:

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9 🌻

That verse became a reminder to keep trusting the process, keep planting seeds of goodness, and trust that in God’s timing, beauty would bloom again.

And little by little, the pieces began falling into place.

Today, we are incredibly humbled and grateful to welcome you to Sun Haven Farm, the permanent home of Fish Sunflowers.

Sun Haven Farm was created to be more than a destination. It is a place rooted in faith, peace, beauty, and meaningful connection. A place where families can gather, memories can be made, burdens can feel lighter, and people can experience the goodness of God through His creation.

Johnny has always carried the heart of a farmer and builder. Named after both of his grandfathers, he grew up deeply inspired by their love for farming, hard work, and serving others. While he never had the opportunity to serve in the military as they did, he believes serving people through these fields and experiences is one way he can honor both his family legacy and his community.

Together, as a family, our hope is simple:

That when you visit Sun Haven Farm, you feel welcomed.

That you slow down.

That you breathe deeply.

That you leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.

Whether you come to walk the sunflower fields, gather with loved ones, take photos, celebrate life, grieve, reflect, or simply watch the sunset over the land, we are honored to share this place with you.

Thank you for being part of this story.

We truly believe this is just the beginning 🌻

With gratitude,

Johnny, Sarah, Anyah, Aubrey & Axel
